For the largest airports in the world

Elval Colour offers a complete range of specified and sustainable products to dress the roofs and the façades of the buildings with any unique design architects imagine. orofe® aluminium coils & sheets, etalbond® , etalbond® FR, etalbond®A2 ACP and Elval ENF™ aluminium sheets have been used in the world's largest airports.

Bangalore International Airport opened in 2008. In 2014, it was ranked as the third busiest airport in India, after the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Elval Colour’s orofe® was chosen to cover the 55,000 square metres of HOK’s “elegantly curved roof”. The company created a final product, which met the performance, durability and aesthetic criteria set by the project owner and its architects. The roof of the airport is built to last orofe® is also incombustible, anticorrosive, UV resistant and requires minimal maintenance or cleaning. When the project was completed in 2012, Elval Colour had provided the finishing touch to an airport that will act as an important driver for the growth of Bangalore, Karnataka and the rest of Southern India.

Mactan Cebu International Airport is the second largest airport in the Philippines and one of the ten most impressive airports that have been built in recent years. Its extension increased the airport’s capacity, whereas its particular architectural design thoroughly renovated its appearance.

Being flexible and robust, as well as appropriate for roof solutions, orofe®was the ideal choice for this type of design in the wavy form envisioned by the architecture firm. This high quality product was selected based of the building’s particular configuration, whose streamlined appearance is defined by its modern construction design and innovative materials, thus raising the bar with regard to the aesthetic appearance of airports all over the world.

The tall slanted roof and the cornices below it together with Elval Colour’s superior quality aluminium materials and painting systems eliminate maximum temperature increase and reflection during the day. The system supporting the superstructure was selected for its capacity to resist the seismic strains and typhoon currents that often occur in the region.

Elval Colour created a final product which satisfied the performance, robustness, and aesthetic criteria set forth by both the owner of the project and the architecture firm. The roof of Mactan Cebu International Airport has been constructed to last through time, orofe® being also non-combustible and resistant to ultraviolet radiation, while requiring minimal maintenance or cleaning.

In the renovation, expansion and upgrading of the Greek regional airports, it was chosen to install etalbond®A2 ACP exclusively with a non-combustible core. Due to the high traffic in these buildings, it was considered necessary to use etalbond®A2, an innovative and sustainable material. etalbond®A2 complies with the highest standards and the most stringent fire safety guidelines in the world, its fire resistance is demonstrated by a combination of material fire tests, in accordance with European Directive EN13501-1 and system in accordance with American Directive NFPA285. In addition, it meets the latest technical requirements in the areas of sustainability and energy efficiency.

Especially regarding facades, the answer to this problem lies in implementing basic principles of the circular economy.
